Jesus Christ, Grace, Righteousness, Bible, Good News

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit ..... Romans 8:1

In the earlier part of my Christain walk, I struggled with the issue of righteousness i.e. doing the right things that pleases God. And when I failed or did something wrong or gave in to my flesh, I felt condemned and not being able to have a right relationship with God. I thought God was angry with me because I did not obey Him. I believe many Christians feel the same and some are sincere in wanting to be holy, to do the right things that they have been taught or heard what God wants them to do.

I am attending a church where my Pastor have been teaching us about our righteousness in Christ. I have been so blessed with the revelation that I am already righteous in Christ, I don't have to try to be righteous. What a liberation! No wonder the Bible says "Stand in the liberty wherewith Christ has set us free". Righteosuness is a gift and not about our doing.

The bible says our righteous (our trying to be righteous) is like filthy rags. It also says  those who receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness shall reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.... Romans 5:17

Righteousness is a gift. When Jesus Christ died on the cross, He did not die for His sins. He is God and He has no sin to die for. The Bible says about Jesus "He did no sin, He knew no sin and in Him was no sin". When He died on the cross, He died for us. He died as us; taking the most cruel punishment for our sins. The punishment for our sins (past, present and future) were paid for. That is why He cried out, "It is finished" at the cross. What is finished, the punishment for all our sins were paid for on the body of another, our Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ. It is for us now to accept what Christ had done for us at the cross, accept our way of escape through Christ Jesus from the punishment of sins and hell.

The good news is that for those who are in Christ Jesus, there is now therefore no condemnation. Our condemnation had been meted out on Christ Jesus at the cross on our behalf. We cannot be condemned anymore, punished anymore for our sins. The law of double jeopardy applies - a crime cannot be punished twice. God's justice is pure. When He punished our sins on the body of His Son, Jesus Christ, our sins have been punished and therefore we cannot be condemned, be judged guilty for our sins anymore. Our sins have been punished through Christ Jesus on the cross. Hallelujah!

What that means is that righteousness is a gift, it is not of our doing. Jesus took upon Himself all our punishment at the cross and gave us our righteousness which is our right standing before God. The choice is ours, do we accept that gift through Christ Jesus or do we still continue to try to be righteous by our good works?

As for me, I have accepted the gift of righteousness in Christ Jesus. I am already righteous in Christ Jesus (yesterday, today and forever) and I am no more trying to be righteous. It is a gift, I just accept it. My heavenly Daddy is smiling upon me every day, every moment because He sees Jesus in me. Just as His beloved Son Jesus who is so loved by the Father, the bible says "so am I in this world". My identity has changed. My identify is not me in my flesh but Christ Jesus.

You too can accept that gift, the gift that God sent to us, His beloved Son Jesus Christ.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotton Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life - John 3:16.

I'm glad to be on this website, since we, followers of Christ, are to use every possible way in proclaiming His Gospel.
I love you, dear unknown brother, I see how much you do for the Lord. You work and alongside that still spread the Word.I wish we lived in one contry and on the same street:)
Romans 8:1 includes two parts. The latter part deliniates, who has no condemnation being in Christ Jesus. Those are living or walking according to the Spirit.
And I am taking a totally new paragraph for those, who "in" Christ Jesus walk according to the flesh, because they are completely other people with their different future. Let them read Rom. 8:13
" For if you are living according to the flesh, you MUST die; but if by the Spirit YOU ARE PUTTING to death the deeds of the body, you will live."
I mean, what other might be said here than in order to live(salvation) we personally with the all possible and promised help of the Holy Spirit have to strive/endeavour in putting to death the deeds of our body(flesh). Otherwise, God says, YOU MUST DIE.
We should be sorry for them, so let's have the fear of the Lord, because we preachers somehow droped the "fear-part"of the Gospel in favor of "love-part".For the eternal and changeless message of God includes it permanently.
"And I saw another angel flying in midheaven, having an ETERNAL GOSPEL to preach to those who live on the earth, and to every nation and tribe and tongue and people;and he said with a loud voice, "FEAR GOD, and give Him glory, because the hour of His judgment has come; worship Him who made the heaven and the earth and sea and springs of waters." Rev. 14:6-7
In Him, your ukrainian brother,
