Gospel of Christ, The Good News

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek ..... Romans 1:16

For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith."  ..... Romans 1:17

We may all have different view of what the Bible is? To some it is like a large story book. To others it is a set of rules and philosophy that we can follow to govern our way of life to be successful. But what is the Bible. It is the Word of God. It is the Gospel - the Good News of Christ Jesus. Gospel means Good News. But to those that are still under the old covenant of the Law, the Gospel may not necessary be good news because under the old covenant, Man must keep all of God's laws and commandments in order to be blessed. If Man cannot keep even a single law/commandment, he is cursed and expect bad things to follow.

Praise God, He sent His Son and given us a new covenant of grace through His Son Jesus Christ. His Son took all the punishment for our sins (past, present, future) on the cross for us so that the punishment for our sins cannot be inputted upon us. We are free, aquitted! That is why the Gospel of Christ is good news to those who are in Jesus Christ, to those who accepted Jesus Christ as his/her Saviour and Lord. Through Christ, the Bible is Good News.

Just like Paul said, I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. What is the gospel of Christ? It is the good news that Christ came to give. What is so good about the news, you may ask.

The good news is:

1) You don’t have to go to hell

Jesus died for the whole world. Salvation from hell is made available to everybody; the Jews, the Gentiles, the Muslims, Hindus, Christians, non Christians, the blacks, the whites, the browns, the yellows, the poor, the rich and it doesn’t matter which nation you belong to. It is made available to everyone through Christ’s death on the cross. It is a free gift, you just have to believe, accept the only way to salvation from eternal condemnation and receive.

John 3:16

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

John 14:6
Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

How do we get saved from hell? The bible says to believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. That is you accept Him as your Lord Jesus Christ and what He has provided for you which is His death on the cross. You believe that He was raised for your justification i.e. your sins have been justified through His death on the cross.

Romans 10:9 “That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

2) You don’t have to be sick no more. You can live in divine health

Jesus Christ has carried our sicknesses and diseases on His broken body at the cross. This is a consequence of our sins that brought forth the curse of sicknesses and diseases (Deut 28). Jesus bore our sicknesses and diseases so we don’t have to bear it anymore. If you are sick today, you don’t have to be sick anymore. Jesus took them away and by His stripes you are healed. Praise God. We can live in divine health everyday of our lives..

Isaiah 53:4-5 “   Surely He has borne our sicknesses And carried our pains; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted.  But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”

3) We can have peace with our Father

Jesus bore the punishment and the anger of God on man’s sins so that we can have peace with our Heavenly Father forever. God will never be angry with us anymore. His anger over our sins was exhausted on the body of Christ. The chastisement of our peace was upon Him.

4) Your sins will never be held accounted to you anymore

Jesus paid the price for our sins on the cross. His body was broken and He shed His blood for the redemption of our sins. And through that He gave us a new covenant of grace. You will never be punished for your sins because the punishment was laid on Jesus at the cross.

Hebrew 8:10-12 “10For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 11None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, "Know the LORD,' for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. 12For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more."

5) You have the righteousness of God

Jesus became a curse on the cross that we may take on His righteousness. The bible says cursed is everyone that hangs on a tree. Jesus died on the cross that is symbolic of a tree for us. In doing that, He not only gave us the redemption of ours sins, He also redeemed us from the curses of the law which includes sicknesses, known and unknown diseases, poverty and lack and many others (Deut 28).

Galatians 3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree"

2 Corinthians 5:21 “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

You don’t have to strive to get the righteousness of God. It is a gift through faith in Christ Jesus. Your right standing with God does not depend on your works, you trying to be right before God. It depends purely on Jesus’ righteousness. As He is, so are we in the world. Our measurement of righteousness or acceptance before our Father God is dependent on how accepted or righteous Jesus is before Him.

Romans 3:22 “even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe.”

Romans 4:5 “But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness,”

How do we receive the righteousness of God. ? Galatians 3:6“just as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness."

What do we believe? That Jesus has died on the cross and shed His precious blood for us for the remission of our sins and gave us a new covenant. In this covenant, our Father God will never remember our sins anymore. The punishment of our (past, present and future) sins had been dealt on the body of Jesus 2000 years ago on the cross of Calvary.  Therefore, we are forever in right standing before God, perfect just like Jesus is to our Father God. The bible says “as He is, so are we”.

1 John 4:17 “Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.”

Philippians 3:9 “and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;”

6) You have no condemnation

Because you are made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, you therefore have no condemnation. No amount of failures in your flesh can disqualify you from the righteousness of God. Neither can any devils; small or big point a finger to accuse you of sins before God. The reason being that God doesn’t see you anymore in you. He sees you in Christ, in the perfection of His beloved son Jesus Christ. Your sins therefore He remembers no more.

Romans 8:1 “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus”

7) Your don’t have to be in lack

Poverty and lack is part of the curse. You don’t have to be in lack anymore, Jesus Christ has redeemed you from that. Refer to Deuteronomy 28 for the curses related to lack. You are redeemed from that. God says He will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Galatians 3:13-14 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree" 14that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Philippians 4:19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Deuteronomy 28:16-19 16"Cursed shall you be in the city, and cursed shall you be in the country.
17"Cursed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.
18"Cursed shall be the fruit of your body and the produce of your land, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks.
19"Cursed shall you be when you come in, and cursed shall you be when you go out.

8) You are empowered to prosper

One translation for the word bless is empower to prosper. We who are in Christ are empowered to prosper. Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law that the blessings (empowerment to prosper) of Abraham might come upon us (Galatians 3:14).

Deuteronomy 28:2-6
v2 And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the LORD your God:
v3 "Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country.
v4 "Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, the produce of your ground and the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks.
v5 "Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.
v6 "Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.

Replacing bless with empower to prosper, the above is translated as, “You are empowered to prosper in the city and in the country. Your body and your children are empowered to prosper. Your work, business, investment, finances are empowered to prosper. You are empowered to prosper when you go out and when you come in i.e. you are empowered to prosper everywhere you go”.

Deuteronomy 8:18 "And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”

God gives us the empowerment to get wealth. Not only has He given us the power to get wealth, He delights in our prosperity.

9) You can do all things. You can change all things

With God nothing is impossible. You can do all things through Christ Jesus. You can change negative circumstances to positive outcomes in your life. What you need to do is to believe what God’s word says. Then confess what He says, hold on to what you confess and receive it.

Luke 1:37 “For with God nothing will be impossible."

Matthew 17:20 “So Jesus said to them, "Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, "Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.”

Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Proverbs 18:21 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.”

Mark 11:23-24  For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, "Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

Ephesians 3:20
”20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,”

10) You have all things

In Christ Jesus, all the promises are yes and amen. That is you qualify to received every blessings mentioned in the bible. God is able to make all grace (undeserved favor i.e. you don’t have to work to get it) abounding towards you so that you lack nothing and can be a blessing to the world around you.

2 Corinthians 1:20 “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.”

Colossians 1:12 “giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.”

2 Corinthians 9:8
“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.”

11) You don’t have to worry about anything. You are totally free

Our Father God knows what we need to live a long good life on this earth. He tells us not to worry about anything. He will take care of them, just like he takes care of the birds in the air.

Matthew 6:25-26, 32
25 "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

Christ came to set the captives free. And whom the Lord sets free is free indeed. You can live life with total freedom and not be held captives in every area of your life e.g. health, fear, worry, finances etc.

Galatians 5:1
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

John 8:36
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

Luke 4:18
Jesus said "The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;”

12) You can have a long good life

You don’t have to die before your time. God promises that you will have a long good life.

Psalms 91:16
“With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.
